Kenitra – As part of its election observation mission focusing on women’s participation and representation, the international organization Gender Concerns International (GCI) has deployed a team of international and national experts to observe the conduct of the September 23 parliamentary elections.

The mission assesses the internal organization of polling stations, particularly the presence of women as presiding officers and their representation among polling station assessors, GCI observation mission Director Sabra Bano said.

In a statement to MAP during a visit by a delegation from the organization on Wednesday to the polling station at Ibn Toufail School in Kenitra, Bano highlighted positive progress in gender parity and an increased presence of women in the bodies overseeing the electoral process.

She welcomed this positive trend toward gender equality, describing the developments observed during visits to various polling stations as very encouraging.

Bano recalled that GCI has been observing elections in Morocco since 2011, with a particular focus on women’s involvement as voters and candidates, as well as their role in overseeing the electoral process.
